Hi, I'm Cynthia Hale.
I founded Imaginal Ways after finding myself at a crossroads, wanting the next chapter of my professional life to fit a new phase of my personal life. At an age when many are ready to end a career, I found myself tapping into creative energy that comes from a life of knowing how to make real changes.

I did for myself what I have become quite good at over the years practising as a depth psychologist and change facilitator. I asked myself questions from many angles and many levels. I went much further than simply, "What do I want?"

I drew on years of working at the intersection of personal values, professional identity, and what it actually takes to make change stick.

That is what I offer here.

Why This Work Matters to Me

I’ve learned to make decisions that are more proactive than reactive. I’ve found that major transitions ask us to let go of the familiar while building something new. At the same time we need to hold on to what matters most. Figuring this out means staying with complexity and ambiguity rather than rushing through to a quick decision. The results can be genuinely empowering.

My Background

With a PhD in depth psychology in the Jungian tradition, I am a published author and teacher, devoted to translating complex ideas into plain, useful language for people who need to act on them, not just think about them. I have spent more than 30 years advising individuals and organisations as a licensed psychotherapist and change consultant in the US, working across clinical practice, board advisory roles, speaking, and research. Imaginal Ways Ltd is where that body of work comes together, a London-based management consultancy built on years of experience at the intersection of professional life and meaningful change.

What that means in practice is that I bring both rigour and genuine curiosity to every conversation and every workshop. I am interested not only in what is happening on the surface of a professional challenge, but in what is driving it underneath, conscious and unconscious alike. That is the insight I work to turn into action.

How We Work Together

I get to know your concerns by listening respectfully and asking questions that develop naturally. Together we discover what is specifically relevant to your situation. I don’t use templates or personality assessments or PowerPoints. We work with what is driving a decision, not only the decision point itself.

I am London-based, primarily online, with clients in the UK and internationally. In-person sessions are possible in particular circumstances.

Let me know if you are ready for a different kind of conversation.
