Hi, I'm Cynthia Hale.
I founded Imaginal Ways after finding myself at a crossroads, wanting the next chapter of my professional life to fit a new phase of my personal life. I discovered there was nothing out there that quite addressed that intersection.
I did not need motivation, a template or spreadsheet. I did not need to resolve a problem emerging from my past. Instead, at an age when many were ready to end a career, I wanted to tap the creative energy that comes from a life of knowing how to make real changes.
So I did what I have become quite good at over the years practising as a depth psychologist and change facilitator. I asked myself questions from many angles and many levels. Not from a questionnaire, but the kind that arise within real conversations. Much more than just, "What do I want?"
I drew on years of working at the intersection of personal values, professional identity, and what it actually takes to make change stick. And I did find answers, ones that reached further and sometimes deeper with each new realisation.
That is what I offer here.
Why This Work Matters to Me
This work reverberates for me personally as well as professionally.
Throughout my life I have moved more times than I can easily count, and I have always found my footing. Yet when I moved from the US to London a few years ago, it took more than I expected. Suddenly I was a beginner again. New systems, new networks, new ways of doing almost everything.
I am much more settled now and still genuinely excited to be learning. But the experience of encountering unexpected challenges stays with me because it is exactly what major transitions ask of us: to let go of the familiar while building something new. And to hold on to what matters most in the process.
That is the territory we explore together, whatever crossroads you are facing.
My Background
I spent more than 30 years as a licensed psychotherapist in the US, working across clinical practice, board advisory roles, speaking, and research. With a PhD in depth psychology, I am a published author and teacher, devoted to translating complex ideas into plain, useful language for people who need to act on them, not just think about them.
What that means in practice is that I bring both rigour and genuine curiosity to every conversation. I am interested in what is actually happening beneath the surface of a professional challenge, not just the presenting question.
How We Work Together
There are no templates here, no personality assessments, no PowerPoints. We start where you are. I ask questions that open things up rather than narrow them down, and we follow what is genuinely relevant to your situation.
Some sessions move quickly into concrete next steps. Others take longer to settle. Both are part of the process.
Everything we discuss is completely confidential. You are not here because your company sent you. You are here because you chose to be, and that makes all the difference to how we can work together.
I am London-based and work with clients online, in the UK and internationally. In-person sessions are possible in particular circumstances.
Ready for a Different Conversation? I currently have two openings available from June 1, 2026.
